Acts 28 :1-10

믿는 자의 표적이 따르니 복음 길이 열립니다

28 After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta.무사히 해안에 도착하고서야 우리는 그곳이 몰타 섬이라는 것을 알았습니다

 2 The native people[a] showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.그 섬 원주민들은 우리에게 각별한 친절을 베풀어 주었습니다. 또 비가 오고 추웠기 때문에 불을 지펴 주며 우리 모두를 맞아 주었습니다. 3 When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. 바울이 마른 나뭇가지 한 묶음을 모아다가 불 속에 넣었더니 뜨거운 열기 때문에 독사가 기어 나와 바울의 손에 달라붙었습니다.4 When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice[b] has not allowed him to live.” 원주민들은 독사가 바울의 손에 매달려 있는 것을 보고 서로 수군거렸습니다. “이 사람은 살인자가 분명하다. 그가 바다에서는 살아났지만 ‘정의의 여신’이 그를 살려 두지 않나 보다.”5 He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.그런데 바울은 그 뱀을 불 속에 떨어 버렸고 아무런 상처도 입지 않았습니다.6 They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.사람들은 그가 몸이 부풀어 오르거나 갑자기 쓰러져 죽을 것이라고 생각했지만 오래 기다려 봐도 아무 일 없는 것을 보고는 생각이 바뀌어 바울을 신이라고 말했습니다.

7 Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days.그 섬의 추장인 보블리오가 그 근처에 자신이 소유한 땅을 갖고 있었습니다. 그는 우리를 자기 집으로 맞아들여 3일 동안 극진히 대접해 주었습니다. 8 It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him, healed him. 그의 아버지는 열병과 이질에 걸려 병상에 누워 있었습니다. 바울은 그를 방문해 기도하고 그 사람의 몸에 손을 얹어 고쳐 주었습니다.9 And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured. 이 일이 있고 나서 그 섬에 사는 다른 병자들도 와서 낫게 됐습니다.10 They also honored us greatly,[c]and when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed.그들은 여러모로 우리를 잘 대접해 주었고 우리가 그 섬을 떠날 때는 우리에게 필요한 물건까지 공급해 주었습니다.
