Acts 24 :24-25:5

주님을 진정 두려워할 때 불의를 버릴 수 있습니다

24 After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. 며칠 뒤 벨릭스는 유대 사람인 아내 드루실라와 함께 나타났습니다. 그는 바울을 불러들여 그리스도 예수를 믿는 믿음에 관해 바울이 설명하는 것을 들었습니다.25 And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.” 바울이 정의와 자기 절제와 다가올 심판에 대해 설명하자 벨릭스는 두려워하며 말했습니다. “이제 됐다! 가도 좋다. 내가 편한 시간에 다시 부르겠다.”26 At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. 동시에 그는 혹시 바울이 자기에게 뇌물을 바치지 않을까 하는 바람에서 바울을 수시로 불러들여 함께 이야기를 나누었습니다.27 When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.2년이 지난 후 벨릭스의 뒤를 이어 보르기오 베스도가 총독이 됐습니다. 그러나 벨릭스는 유대 사람들에게 환심을 사려고 바울을 그대로 감옥에 내버려 두었습니다.


25 Now three days after Festus had arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.베스도가 부임한 지 3일 뒤에 가이사랴에서 예루살렘으로 올라가자 2 And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews laid out their case against Paul, and they urged him, 대제사장들과 유대 지도자들이 그 앞에 나와 바울에 대해 고소했습니다.3 asking as a favor against Paul[a] that he summon him to Jerusalem—because they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way.그들은 자기들에게 호의를 베푸는 셈치고 바울을 예루살렘으로 이송해 달라고 베스도에게 강력하게 요청했습니다. 이송 도중 매복하고 있다가 그를 죽이려고 준비하고 있었던 것입니다. 4 Festus replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea and that he himself intended to go there shortly.베스도가 대답했습니다. “바울이 가이사랴에 묶여 있고 나도 이제 곧 그곳으로 갈 것이니 5 “So,” said he, “let the men of authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, let them bring charges against him.”그에게 무슨 잘못이 있다면 너희 지도자들 몇몇이 나와 함께 가서 그곳에서 고소하도록 하라.”
