Chapter 21

  • 1-42 레위 사람의 성읍 (Towns for the Levites)
    3.So, as the LORD had commanded, the Israelites gave the Levites the following towns and pasturelands out of their own inheritance:그리하여 이스라엘 자손들은 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 레위사람들에게 다음의 성과 초지를 자기 유산 가운데 주었습니다
    41.The towns of the Levites in the territory held by the Israelites were forty-eight in all, together with their pasturelands.이스라엘 자손들이 차지한 유산 가운데 레위 사람의 성은 전체 48개와 그 초지였습니다
    42.Each of these towns had pasturelands surrounding it; this was true for all these towns이 성들은 다 한결같이 그 주변에 초지가 있었습니다. 이 모든 성들이 다 그러했습니다.
  • 43-45:약속하신 온 땅을 차지하다 
    44.The LORD gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the LORD handed all their enemies over to them.또 여호와께서는 그 조상들에게 맹세하신 대로 그들의 사방에 안식을 주셨습니다. 그리하여 그 원수들 가운데 하나도 그들에게 맞서지 못했습니다. 여호와께서 그 모든 원수들을 그들 손에 넘겨주셨기 때문입니다
    45.Not one of all the LORD's good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled  여호와께서 이스라엘 집에 하신 모든 선한 약속은 하나도 남김없이 다 이뤄졌습니다.



Chapter 22

  • 1-9 동쪽지파들이 자기 땅으로 돌아감 (Eastern Tribes Return Home)
    9.So the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the Israelites at Shiloh in Canaan to return to Gilead, their own land, which they had acquired in accordance with the command of the LORD through Moses.그리하여 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅에 있는 실로에서 이스라엘 자손들 곁을 떠나 여호와의 말씀에 따라 모세를 통해 소유하게 된 그들의 소유지 길르앗으로 돌아갔습니다.
  • 10-34 요단 가에 제단을 쌓다 (the altar on the border of Canaan)
    11.And when the Israelites heard that they had built the altar on the border of Canaan at Geliloth near the Jordan on the Israelite side, 이스라엘 자손들은 “보라. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅 요단 강 경계의 이스라엘 자손들의 길목에다 제단을 쌓았다” 하는 소식을 들었습니다.
    31.And Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, said to Reuben, Gad and Manasseh, "Today we know that the LORD is with us, because you have not acted unfaithfully toward the LORD in this matter. Now you have rescued the Israelites from the LORD's hand." 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스가 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 자손에게 말했습니다. “오늘 여호와께서 우리 사이에 계심을 알았다. 이 일은 너희가 여호와께 신의를 저버린 것이 아니다. 너희가 여호와의 손에서 이스라엘 자손들을 구해 냈다.”




Chapter 23

  • 1-16 여호수아가 최후 연설을 함 (Joshua’s Farewell to the Leaders)
    8.But you are to hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have until now.
    오직 너희가 오늘까지 행한 대로 너희 하나님 여호와를 굳게 붙들어야 한다.
    14."Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.보라. 오늘 이제 나는 온 땅이 가는 길로 가려고 한다. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에 대해 말씀하신 모든 선한 약속들이 하나도 남김없이 다 이뤄졌음을 너희는 너희 온 마음과 온 영혼으로 알 것이다. 모든 것이 이뤄져 실패한 것이 하나도 없다.
    15.But just as every good promise of the LORD your God has come true, so the LORD will bring on you all the evil he has threatened, until he has destroyed you from this good land he has given you.그러나 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 하신 선한 약속이 너희에게 다 이뤄진 것처럼 여호와께서는 또한 너희에게 모든 악한 것을 내려 주시되 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 주신 이 좋은 땅에서 너희를 멸망시킬 때까지 그렇게 하실 것이다.


Chapter 24

  • 1-28 여호수아가 세겜에 모인 백성에게 이르다 (The Covenant Renewed at Shechem)
    1.Then Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem. He summoned the elders, leaders, judges and officials of Israel, and they presented themselves before God.여호수아가 이스라엘 모든 지파를 세겜에 모으고 이스라엘 장로들과 그들의 수령들과 재판장들과 관리들을 부르매 그들이 하나님 앞에 나와 선지라
    15.But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."그러나 만약 너희 마음에 여호와를 섬기는 일이 내키지 않으면 그때는 너희 스스로 누구를 섬길 것인지, 너희 조상들이 강 건너에서 섬겼던 신들이든 지금 너희가 살고 있는 이 땅의 아모리 사람의 신들이든 오늘 선택하라. 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬길 것이다.

  • 29-33 여호수아와 엘르아살이 죽다 (Buried in the Promised Land)
    29.After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of a hundred and ten.이 일 후에 여호와의 종 눈의 아들 여호수아는 110세에 죽었습니다.
    33.And Eleazar son of Aaron died and was buried at Gibeah, which had been allotted to his son Phinehas in the hill country of Ephraim.아론의 아들 엘르아살도 죽었습니다. 그들은 그를 에브라임 산지에 있는 그의 아들 비느하스에게 준 기브아에 묻었습니다.

Chapter 17
  • 1-13 서쪽 므낫세 자손의 기업
    1.This was the allotment for the tribe of Manasseh as Joseph's firstborn, that is, for Makir, Manasseh's firstborn. Makir was the ancestor of the Gileadites, who had received Gilead and Bashan because the Makirites were great soldiers.그리고 요셉의 장자인 므낫세 지파를 위해 제비를 뽑았습니다. 므낫세는 요셉의 큰아들이었고 길르앗의 아버지 마길은 므낫세의 장자입니다. 그는 군인이어서 길르앗과 바산을 얻었습니다.
  • 14-18 에브라임과 므낫세 지파가 땅을 더 요구함
    14.The people of Joseph said to Joshua, "Why have you given us only one allotment and one portion for an inheritance? We are a numerous people and the LORD has blessed us abundantly."요셉의 자손들이 여호수아에게 말했습니다. “여호와께서 지금까지 내게 큰 복을 주셔서 내가 큰 민족이 됐는데 왜 내게 한 번만 제비를 뽑아 한 몫만 유산으로 주십니까?”
    15."If you are so numerous," Joshua answered, "and if the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go up into the forest and clear land for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaites."여호수아가 그들에게 대답했습니다. “네가 큰 민족이 됐다면 에브라임 산이 네게 너무 좁을 테니 삼림으로 올라가서 브리스 사람과 르임 사람의 땅에서 스스로 개척하여라.”




Chapter 18
  • 1-10 나머지 땅 분배 (Division of the Rest of the Land)
    2.but there were still seven Israelite tribes who had not yet received their inheritance이스라엘 사람들 가운데 일곱 지파는 아직 유산을 받지 못했습니다..
    6.After you have written descriptions of the seven parts of the land, bring them here to me and I will cast lots for you in the presence of the LORD our God 너희는 그 땅을 일곱 구역으로 잘 나눠서 그 자세한 내용을 여기 내게로 가져오라. 그러면 내가 여기 우리 하나님 여호와 앞에서 너희를 위해 제비를 뽑을 것이다 ..
    10.Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD, and there he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their tribal divisions.여호수아는 실로에서 여호와 앞에서 그들을 위해 제비를 뽑고 거기에서 이스라엘 사람들에게 각 지파에 따라 그 땅을 나눠 주었습니다.
  • 11-28 베냐민 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Benjamin)
    11.The lot came up for the tribe of Benjamin, clan by clan. Their allotted territory lay between the tribes of Judah and Joseph:베냐민 지파를 위해 각 가문별로 제비를 뽑았습니다. 그들에게 분배된 땅은 유다 자손과 요셉 자손의 사이였습니다
    28.Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah and Kiriath -- fourteen towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of Benjamin for its clans.셀라, 엘렙, 여부스, 곧 예루살렘, 기부앗, 기럇으로 14개의 성과 그 주변 마을입니다. 이상이 그 가문별로 받은 베냐민 자손들의 유산입니다.






Chapter 19
  • 1-9 시므온 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Simeon)
    1.The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon, clan by clan. Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah.두 번째로는 시므온, 곧 시므온 자손의 지파를 위해 그 가문별로 제비를 뽑았습니다. 그 유산은 유다 자손들의 경계 내에 있습니다.
    9.The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah, because Judah's portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah시므온 자손들의 유산은 유다 자손들의 몫에서 떼어 준 것인데 그것은 유다 자손들의 몫이 필요 이상으로 많았기 때문입니다. 그리하여 시므온 자손들은 유다 자손의 유산에서 그 유산을 받았습니다.
  • 10-16 스불론 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Zebulun)
    10.The third lot came up for Zebulun, clan by clan: The boundary of their inheritance went as far as Sarid.세 번째로는 스불론 자손들을 위해 그 가문별로 제비를 뽑았습니다. 그 유산의 경계는 사릿까지 이르고
  • 17-23 잇사갈 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Issachar)
    17.The fourth lot came out for Issachar, clan by clan
    네 번째로 잇사갈, 곧 잇사갈 자손들을 위해 그 가문별로 제비를 뽑았습니다
  • 24-31 아셀 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Asher)
    24.The fifth lot came out for the tribe of Asher, clan by clan다섯 번째로 아셀 자손의 지파를 위해 그 가문별로 제비를 뽑았습니다.
  • 32-39 납달리 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Naphtali)
    32.The sixth lot came out for Naphtali, clan by clan:여섯 번째로는 납달리 자손들을 위해 제비를 뽑았습니다. 그 가문별로 납달리 자손들을 위해 뽑은 것입니다.
  • 40-48 단 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Dan)
    40.The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan, clan by clan 일곱 번째로 단 지파를 위해 그 가족별로 제비를 뽑았습니다.
  • 49-51 기업의 땅 나누기를 마치다 (Allotment for Joshua)
    50.as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the town he asked for -- Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the town and settled there.그들은 여호와의 말씀에 따라 여호수아가 요구한 성, 곧 에브라임 산지의 딤낫 세라를 그에게 주었습니다. 그는 거기에 성을 쌓고 살았습니다
    51.These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel assigned by lot at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. Chapter 20
  • 1-9 도피성 (Cities of Refuge)
    9.Any of the Israelites or any alien living among them who killed someone accidentally could flee to these designated cities and not be killed by the avenger of blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.이곳은 모든 이스라엘 사람들이나 그들 가운데 사는 이방 사람가운데 누군가를 우연히 죽인 사람을 위해 정해 놓은 성들로 거기에 있으면 회중 앞에 서기 전에 피로 복수하는 사람에게 죽임당하는 일을 면할 수 있었습니다.

Chapter 11

  • 1-23 북쪽 왕들을 정복함 (Northern Kings Defeated)
    1.When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Acshaph 
    하솔 왕 야빈이 이 소식을 듣고 마돈 왕 요밥과 시므론 왕과 악삽 왕에게 전갈을 보냈습니다
    2.and to the northern kings who were in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Kinnereth, in the western foothills and in Naphoth Dor on the west;또 북쪽의 산지, 긴네롯 남쪽 평지, 골짜기, 서쪽의 돌의 높은 곳 왕들과
    3.to the Canaanites in the east and west; to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites and Jebusites in the hill country; and to the Hivites below Hermon in the region of Mizpah.동쪽과 서쪽의 가나안 사람들, 아모리 사람들, 헷 사람들, 브리스 사람들, 산지의 여부스 사람들, 미스바 땅의 헤르몬 아래에 사는 히위 사람들에게도 전갈을 보냈습니다.
    4.They came out with all their troops and a large number of horses and chariots -- a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore.그러자 그들이 모든 군대를 거느리고 나왔는데 그 사람들이 많아서 바닷가의 모래 같았습니다. 말과 전차도 대단히 많았습니다
    8.and the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel. They defeated them and pursued them all the way to Greater Sidon, to Misrephoth Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpah on the east, until no survivors were left.여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨습니다. 이스라엘은 그들을 치고 큰 시돈과 미스르봇 마임과 동쪽 미스바 골짜기까지 쫓아가 한 사람도 남김없이 그들을 쳤습니다




Chapter 12
  • 1-6 모세가 정복한 왕들 
    2.Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon. He ruled from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge -- from the middle of the gorge -- to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites. This included half of Gilead헤스본에 거했던 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼은 아르논 골짜기의 아로엘과 그 골짜기 한가운데와 길르앗 절반에서부터 암몬 사람의 경계인 얍복 강까지 다스리고 있었습니다.
    4.And the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the last of the Rephaites, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei.르바 족속 가운데 살아남은 사람으로 아스다롯과 에드레이에 살던 바산 왕 옥은
    6.Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites conquered them. And Moses the servant of the LORD gave their land to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh to be their possession.
    여호와의 종 모세와 이스라엘 사람들이 그들을 쳤고 여호와의 종 모세는 그 땅을 르우벤 지파와 갓지파와 므낫세 반 지파에게 유산으로 주었습니다.
  • 7-24 여호수아가 정복한 왕들 (List of Defeated Kings)
    7.These are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir (their lands Joshua gave as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions --여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 요단 이편 곧 서쪽 레바논 골짜기의 바알갓에서부터 세일로 올라가는 곳 할락 산까지 쳐서 멸한 그 땅의 왕들은 이러하니라 (그 땅을 여호수아가 이스라엘의 지파들에게 구분에 따라 소유로 주었으니





Chapter 13
  • 1-7 정복하지 못한 지역 (Land Still to Be Taken)
    7.and divide it as an inheritance among the nine tribes and half of the tribe of Manasseh.
    너는 이 땅을 아홉 지파와 므낫세 반 지파에게 나누어 기업이 되게 하라 하셨더라
    8.The other half of Manasseh, the Reubenites and the Gadites had received the inheritance that Moses had given them east of the Jordan, as he, the servant of the LORD, had assigned it to them
    므낫세 반 지파와 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파는 모세가 준 요단 강 동쪽 땅을 그들의 유산으로 받았습니다. 여호와의 종 모세가 그들에게 준 것은 이러합니다.
  • 8-33 요단 동쪽 기업의 분배 (Division of the Land East of the Jordan)
    33.But to the tribe of Levi, Moses had given no inheritance; the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he promised them.오직 레위 지파에게는 모세가 기업을 주지 아니하였으니 이는 그들에게 말씀하신 것과 같이 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 그들의 기업이 되심이었더라



Chapter 14
  • 1-5 요단 서쪽 기업의 분배 (Division of the Land West of the Jordan)
    1.Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel allotted to them
    이스라엘 사람들이 가나안 땅에서 유산으로 받은 지역은 이러합니다. 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘의 지파 족장들이 그들에게 분배한 것입니다
    2.Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.그들의 유산은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 제비를 뽑아 나머지 아홉 지파와 므낫세 반 지파에게 분배됐습니다.
  • 6-15 갈렙이 헤브론을 기업으로 받다 (Allotment for Caleb)
    13.Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance그러자 여호수아는 여분네의 아들 갈렙을 축복하고 헤브론을 유산으로 주었습니다.
    14.So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.따라서 헤브론은 오늘까지 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙의 유산이 됐습니다. 그가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 마음을 다해 따랐기 때문입니다.


Chapter 15
  • 1-12 유다 자손의 땅 (Allotment for Judah)
    1.The allotment for the tribe of Judah, clan by clan, extended down to the territory of Edom, to the Desert of Zin in the extreme south.유다 자손의 지파가 제비 뽑아 그 가문별로 분배받은 땅의 최남단 경계선은 에돔 경계와 맞닿아 있는 신 광야입니다.
  • 13-19 갈렙이 헤브론과 드빌을 정복하다
    13.In accordance with the LORD's command to him, Joshua gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh a portion in Judah -- Kiriath Arba, that is, Hebron. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)
    여호와께서 여호수아에게 명령하신 대로 여호수아가 여분네의 아들 갈렙에게 유다 사람들의 몫인 아낙의 아버지 아르바의 성, 곧 헤브론을 주었습니다.
  • 20-63 유다 자손의 기업
    20.This is the inheritance of the tribe of Judah, clan by clan 이상은 유다 자손의 지파가 가문별로 받은 유산입니다




Chapter 16
  • 1-10 에브라임과 서쪽 므낫세 자손의 기업 (Allotment for Ephraim and Manasseh)
    1.The allotment for Joseph began at the Jordan of Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, and went up from there through the desert into the hill country of Bethel.요셉 자손이 제비 뽑은 것은 여리고 샘 동쪽 곧 여리고 곁 요단으로부터 광야로 들어가 여리고로부터 벧엘 산지로 올라가고
    4.So Manasseh and Ephraim, the descendants of Joseph, received their inheritance요셉의 자손 므낫세와 에브라임이 그들의 기업을 받았더라.

Chapter 7

  • 1-26 아간이 범죄함 (Achan’s Sin)
    1.But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the LORD's anger burned against Israel.그러나 이스라엘 백성이 진멸시켜야 할 물건에 손을 댔습니다. 유다 지파 세라의 증손이며 삽디의 손자이며 갈미의 아들인 아간이 진멸시켜야 할 물건의 일부를 취했습니다. 그러자 여호와의 분노가 이스라엘에 대해 불같이 일어났습니다.
    20.Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done:아간이 여호수아에게 대답했습니다. “내가 진실로 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 죄를 지었습니다. 내가 이러이러하게 했습니다
    21.When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.전리품 가운데 시날의 아름다운 외투와 은 200세겔과 50세겔나가는 금덩이 하나를 보고 탐이 나서 가졌습니다. 그것들은 내 장막 안 땅속에 숨겨져 있고 은은 그 밑에 있습니다"
    26.Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the LORD turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since
    아간 위에 큰 돌무더기를 쌓았습니다. 그리하여 그것이 오늘날까지 남아 있습니다. 그제야 여호와께서는 그 맹렬한 진노를 돌이키셨습니다. 그리하여 그곳 이름이 오늘날까지도 아골 골짜기라 불리게 됐습니다.




Chapter 8
  • 1-35 아이 성을 점령하다 (Ai Destroyed)
    1.Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨습니다. “두려워하지 마라. 낙심하지도 마라. 모든 군사들을 이끌고 일어나 아이로 올라가거라. 보아라. 내가 아이 왕과 아이 백성과 성과 땅을 다 네 손에 넘겨주었다
    20.The men of Ai looked back and saw the smoke of the city rising against the sky, but they had no chance to escape in any direction, for the Israelites who had been fleeing toward the desert had turned back against their pursuers.아이의 군사들이 뒤를 돌아보니 성에서 연기가 하늘로 올라가는 것이었습니다. 그들은 어디로 피해야 할지 갈피를 잡을 수 없었습니다. 그리고 광야 길로 도망치던 이스라엘 백성들이 갑자기 뒤돌아와 그 쫓던 자들을 치기 시작했습니다.
    29.He hung the king of Ai on a tree and left him there until evening. At sunset, Joshua ordered them to take his body from the tree and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks over it, which remains to this day.그리고 아이 왕을 저녁까지 나무에 달아 두었습니다. 해가 지자 여호수아는 그 시체를 나무에서 내려 성문 입구에 내던지고 그 위에 돌을 쌓아 큰 더미를 만들라고 명령했습니다. 그래서 그것이 오늘까지 남아 있습니다.


Chapter 9
  • 1-27 기브온 부족이 이스라엘을 속임 (The Gibeonite Deception)
    22.Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, "Why did you deceive us by saying, `We live a long way from you,' while actually you live near us?그때 여호수아가 기브온 사람들을 불러 말했습니다. “너희는 우리 가까이 살면서 왜 ‘우리는 당신들과 멀리 떨어져 삽니다’라며 우리를 속였느냐?
    23.You are now under a curse: You will never cease to serve as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God 너희는 이제 저주 아래 있게 됐다. 너희는 영원히 종살이를 면하지 못할 것이니 내 하나님의 집을 위해 나무 패며 물 긷는 자들이 될 것이다."
    27.That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water carriers for the community and for the altar of the LORD at the place the LORD would choose. And that is what they are to this day.
    그날에 여호수아는 기브온 사람들을 온 회중을 위해, 또 여호와께서 선택하신 여호와의 제단을 위해 나무를 패고 물을 긷도록 했습니다. 이렇게 해서 그들이 오늘날까지 그렇게 하고 있는 것입니다.


Chapter 10
  • 1-15 태양과 달이 멈추어 섬  (The Sun Stands Still)
    5.Then the five kings of the Amorites -- the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon -- joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.그러자 아모리 사람의 다섯 왕, 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕이 힘을 합해 모든 군대를 거느리고 올라와 기브온에 대항해 진을 치고 싸움을 걸어왔습니다.
  • 28-43아모리의 모든 왕과 땅을 취하다 (Southern Cities Conquered)
    40.So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.이렇게 해서 여호수아는 그 전 지역, 곧 산지와 네게브, 서쪽 평지와 산비탈, 그 모든 왕을 쳤습니다. 여호수아는 한 사람도 남겨 두지 않고 숨쉬는 모든 것을 진멸시켰습니다. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 명령하신 그대로 행했습니다.
    41.Joshua subdued them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from the whole region of Goshen to Gibeon.여호수아는 가데스 바네아에서 가사에 이르기까지, 또 고센의 모든 지역에서 기브온에 이르기까지 정복했습니다.
    42.All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
    이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위해 싸웠기 때문에 여호수아는 이 모든 왕과 그들의 땅을 일시에 정복했습니다
    43.Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal. 여호수아는 온 이스라엘 백성들과 함께 길갈 진영으로 돌아왔습니다.

Chapter 1

  • 1-9 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하시다 (Joshua Installed as Leader)
    2."Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them -- to the Israelites내 종 모세가 죽었으니 너와 이 모든 백성들은 이제 일어나 이 강을 건너 내가 이스라엘 백성들에게 주는 땅으로 가거라
    9.Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."내가 네게 명령하지 않았느냐? 강하고 담대하여라. 두려워하지 말고 낙심하지 마라. 네가 어디를 가든 여호와 네 하나님이 너와 함께할 것이다.”
  • 10-18 여호수아가 백성에게 명령을 내리다 
    11."Go through the camp and tell the people, `Get your supplies ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you for your own.'" 진영으로 가서 백성들에게 명령하라. ‘너희 양식을 준비하라. 이제부터 3일 안에 너희가 여기에서 요단 강을 건너 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 유산으로 주시는 땅으로 들어가 차지할 것이다




Chapter 2

  • 1-24 라합이 정탐꾼들을 숨김 (Rahab and the Spies)
    1.Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land," he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.눈의 아들 여호수아는 싯딤에서 두 정탐꾼을 은밀히 보내며 말했습니다. “가서 그 땅을 살펴보고 와라. 특히 여리고를 눈여겨보아라.” 그리하여 두 정탐꾼이 가서 라합이라는 창녀의 집에 들어가 거기 묵게 됐습니다.
    24.They said to Joshua, "The LORD has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the people are melting in fear because of us."그들이 여호수아에게 말했습니다. “여호와께서 진실로 이 온 땅을 우리 손에 주셨습니다. 모든 백성들이 우리 때문에 두려워서 간담이 서늘해져 있습니다.”



Chapter 3

  • 1-17 이스라엘이 요단 강을 건넘 (Crossing the Jordan)
    6.Joshua said to the priests, "Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people." So they took it up and went ahead of them.여호수아가 제사장들에게 말했습니다. “언약궤를 메고 백성들 앞서 강을 건너라.” 이에 제사장들은 언약궤를 메고 백성들 앞서 갔습니다.
    17.The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.여호와의 언약궤를 든 제사장들은 요단 강 한복판 마른 땅 위에 서 있었습니다. 그 사이에 모든 이스라엘 백성들은 마른 땅을 건너가 마침내 온 백성이 요단 강 건너기를 다 마쳤습니다




Chapter 4

  • 1-24 길갈에 세운 열두 돌
    8.So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.그러자 이스라엘 백성들은 여호수아가 명령한 그대로 했습니다. 그들은 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하신 대로 이스라엘 지파의 수에 따라 요단 강 한복판에서 돌 12개를 그들이 묵을 곳에 가져와 거기서 쉬었습니다.
    20.And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan 여호수아가 요단 강에서 가지고 나온 12개의 돌들을 길갈에 세우고.
    21.He said to the Israelites, "In the future when your descendants ask their fathers, `What do these stones mean?'이스라엘 백성들에게 말했습니다. “훗날 너희 자손들이 아버지에게 ‘이 돌들은 무슨 뜻이 있습니까?’ 하고 물으면
    22.tell them, `Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.'너희는 너희 자손들에게 ‘이스라엘이 마른 땅을 밟고 이 강을 건넜다’라고 알려 주라.


Chapter 5

  • 1-12 길갈에서 할례를 시행함 (Circumcision and Passover at Gilgal)
    2.At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again.그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨습니다. “너는 돌칼을 만들어 이스라엘 백성들에게 다시 할례를 시행하여라.”"
  • 13-15 칼을 든 여호와의 군대 대장 (The commander of the LORD's army)
    14."Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"그가 대답했습니다. “아니다. 나는 지금 여호와의 군사령관으로 왔다.” 그러자 여호수아가 땅에 엎드려 경배하고 그에게 말했습니다. “내 주께서 종에게 무슨 말씀을 하시렵니까?





Chapter 6

  • 1-27 여리고 성이 무너짐
    2.Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨습니다. “보아라. 내가 여리고와 여리고 왕 그리고 여리고용사들을 네 손에 넘겨주었다.
    3.March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days모든 군인들은 그 성을 둘러싸라. 그 성을 한 번 돌아라. 6일 동안 그렇게 하여라..
    4.Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.그리고 일곱 명의 제사장이 법궤 앞에서 양의 뿔로 만든 일곱 개의 나팔을 들어라. 그러다가 일곱 번째 날에는 성 주위를 일곱 번 돌고 제사장들은 나팔을 불어라.
    5.When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in.
    제사장들이 양의 뿔을 길게 불 것이다. 백성들이 나팔소리를 들었을 때 모든 백성들은 함성을 질러라. 그러면 성벽이 와르르 무너져 내릴 것이니 백성들은 일제히 올라가라.
