Jehoshaphat's Prayer
20 After this the Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites,[a] came against Jehoshaphat for battle. 이 일 후에 모압 사람들과 암몬 사람들이 마온 사람들과 함께 여호사밧에 대항해 싸우려고 왔습니다.2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude is coming against you from Edom,[b] from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar” (that is, Engedi). 어떤 사람들이 여호사밧에게 가서 말했습니다. “큰 군대가 바다 저쪽 아람에서부터 왕을 치러 오고 있습니다. 벌써 하사손다말, 곧 엔게디까지 이르렀습니다.”3 Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.여호사밧은 두려운 마음으로 여호와께 마음을 다해 간구하고는 온 유다에 금식을 명령했습니다 4 And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.유다 백성들은 여호와께 도움을 청하려고 함께 모였습니다. 유다의 모든 성에서 모여 와서 여호와를 찾았습니다.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, 그때 여호사밧이 여호와의 성전 새 뜰 앞에 모인 유다와 예루살렘 무리들 가운데 일어났습니다.6 and said, “O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. 여호사밧이 말했습니다. “우리 조상들의 하나님 여호와여, 주께서는 하늘에 계신 하나님이 아니십니까? 주께서 모든 민족의 나라들을 다스리십니다. 능력과 힘이 주의 손에 있으니 어느 누구도 주께 대항할 수 없습니다.7 Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? 우리 하나님이여, 주께서 주의 백성 이스라엘 앞에서 이 땅에 살던 사람들을 쫓아내시고 그 땅을 주의 친구인 아브라함의 자손들에게 영원히 주시지 아니하셨습니까? 8 And they have lived in it and have built for you in it a sanctuary for your name, saying, 그들이 거기 살면서 주의 이름을 위해 성소를 짓고는 말했습니다. 9 ‘If disaster comes upon us, the sword, judgment,[c] or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before you—for your name is in this house—and cry out to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’ 심판의 칼이나 전염병이나 기근 등 재난이 우리에게 닥쳐와도 우리가 주의 이름이 있는 이 성전, 주께서 계시는 곳에 서서 고난 가운데 주께 부르짖으면 주께서 우리 소리를 듣고 우리를 구원해 주시겠다’라고 하셨습니다.10 And now behold, the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came from the land of Egypt, and whom they avoided and did not destroy 여기 암몬과 모압과 세일 산에서 온 사람들이 있습니다. 이스라엘이 이집트에서 나올 때 주께서는 이스라엘이 그들의 땅에 들어가도록 허락하지 않으셨습니다. 그리하여 이스라엘은 그들에게서 물러나 그들을 멸망시키지 않았습니다.— 11 behold, they reward us by coming to drive us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit. 그런데 그들이 우리에게 갚는 것을 보십시오. 주께서 우리에게 기업으로 주신 땅에서 우리를 쫓아내려고 합니다. 12 O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”우리 하나님이여, 주께서 그들을 심판하지 않으시겠습니까? 우리는 우리를 공격하고 있는 저 큰 군대에 맞설 힘이 없습니다. 우리는 어떻게 해야 할지 모르겠습니다. 오직 우리 눈은 여호와만 바라볼 뿐입니다.”
13 Meanwhile all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. 유다의 모든 사람들은 그들의 아내들과 자식들과 어린아이들과 함께 여호와 앞에 섰습니다
